PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (AP)—Adding to their pre-Super Bowl injury problems, Pittsburgh Steelers placekicker Shaun Suisham sustained a signifigant ankle sprain early Tuesday morning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported just after noon today.

Harry Kingsley, head sports writer for the Post-Gazette, wrote that Suisham was leaving his residence early Tuesday to catch a flight to Dallas when he slipped on icy steps. Pittsburgh had received a signifigant amount of snow, ice, and freezing rain overnight Monday.

Steelers lead athletic trainer, John Norwig, told reporters that Suisham "is experiencing a lot of pain when any pressure is applied to the ankle." Special teams coach Al Everest followed that statement, stating that the injury was signifigant and that Suisham was "80-90% likely" to sideline the kicker for Sunday's Super Bowl.

Suisham's injury is the second freak accident to sideline a Pittsburgh starter in less than 48 hours. NFL.com reported on Monday that Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison would be out due to severe 1st and 2nd degree burns he sustained after falling asleep on a beach in Hawaii while attending the Pro Bowl festivities for players selected but not particpating in the NFL's All Star game.

Everybody keeps saying that lugursky wont be able to handle Raji all game but dont you think that practicing against Casey Hampton for 2 weeks will benefit him a little bit.

You Steeler fans are a bunch of hypocrites complaining about Goodell, If not for him giving Rottenberger 2 LESS games on his suspension you wouldn't be in the SB, so shut up and be happy you're there!!!

What an ignorant mind game this is, Is this the best that Tomlin can come up with? Whether Pouncy plays or not it will affect the Steelers, and let me assure you that Ruthlessraper will be getting pressure over the center and from the corners ALL day long!

    Packers 24 - Steelers 13

All the Steeler Olinemen wore Flozell Adams' Mich State jersey as a tribute to him making it to his first superbowl.

Come on Pouncey, walk it off! :-) For a rookie in such a critical role, you had one heck of a year! I hope you get to play, but if not, you're spiriti will be on the field.

The Player's Union do not want to play 18 games because they are afraid of injuries. This guy has a high ankle sprain and a broken bone in his foot and they are talking about him possibly playing. WOW. I am sure Pouncy does not want to miss playing in the Super Bowl but consider career ending injuries if he does play. I hate to use the word stupid but I think it fits here.

hey Dr Buckey -don't let the Steeler fans silence you- thats right, #4 would play with 2 broken legs-and they will have to wait for a ring on their pinky finger for another year....

As a life time Packer fan I speak for all Packer fans when I say it doesn't matter who plays for the Steelers we are going to lose. We just don't have the quality of players that the Steelers have and we won't be able to compete with them. They are a talented team who will have 7 super bowl victories after Sunday.
